Daniel "Dan", "Benny" L. Bennett , 74 of Zanesville died at 1:21 AM Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Genesis Morrison House Hospice following complications from pneumonia.
He was born on Friday, August 28, 1942 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Robert A. and Alice (Kirk) Bennett.
Dan graduated in 1960 from Bishop Rosecrans High School. He served his country in the U.S. Military with the Army Reserves and retired as Store Manager of the Kroger Company in Zanesville after 43 years of service. He owned the Cozy Corner Café and enjoyed spending time with his friends there. His love for the game of golf was like no other, no matter the weather, you could always find Dan on the golf course. He even had three holes in one and was inducted into the Zanesville District Golf Association Hall of Fame in 2007 having won the ZDGA Amateur Golf Tournament in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene L. (Hutchison) Bennett, whom he married Feb 14, 1998; his blended family; sons, Dan (Joan) Bennett of Zanesville, Greg (Krissy) Bennett of Adamsville and Josh (Hillarie) Michaels of Westerville; daughters, Shannon (Kevin) Kenily of Nashport, Erin (Brian) Briggs of Nashport and Sara Gifford of Nashport; Grandchildren, Chelsie (Wesley) Bachelor, Madison (Tyler) Bennett, Reily Bennett, Tanner (Amanda) Bennett, Quentin Green, Gage (Hannah) Green, Kadin and Koltin Kenily, Avery and Luke Michaels, Mason Maxwell, Saylor and Sloane Briggs, Sawyer and Harper Gifford; sister-in-law, Shirley A. Bennett; Great-grandchildren Mason and Blair Bachelor; sister, Rita Bennett of Westerville; Linda Bennett, mother of sons Dan and Greg; and his beloved dog, "Buddy". Daniel "Dan", "Benny" was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Virgil “Virg” Bennett.
Friends may call 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 24, 2017 with Fr. Martin Ralko officiating. Burial will conclude at the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
