Lawrence "Larry" Edward Allen, 90 of Sandusky and formerly of Zanesville died at 12:52 PM Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky Ohio.
He was born on Monday, July 11, 1927 in New Lexington, Ohio the son of William and Jeanette Marie Rose (Carmella) Allen.
Larry was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, a WWII Navy Veteran and a machinist who set up & operated a screw machine at United Technologies on Linden Ave. where he retired in 1992 after 24 years of service. He was also a 5th Master Black Belt with the Coszacks School of Self-Defense having trained and instructed for over 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 29 and a lifetime member of the VFW. Larry was still active with the martial arts and square dancing to the age of 85.
He is survived his daughters, Jeanette “Nettie” (Ray) Adkins of Thornville and Karen (Jon) Allen of Crooksville and 3 grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife Rita Ann (Morris) Allen; a son, Steve Allen, a daughter, Katherine Sue Allen and a brother Dan Allen.
A graveside service with Military Honors will take place 11:00 AM Saturday October 28th at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky or to the Stein Hospice of Sandusky in Larry’s honor.
