Richard A. “Rich” Clark, 66, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:00 AM Friday, July 7, 2017, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born July 19, 1950, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late Calvin and Mary Edna Donaghy Clark. Rich graduated from Zanesville High School in 1968 and was very active with Boy Scouts for 58 years. He taught biology at Zanesville City Schools for 35 years where he was ski club advisor and junior and senior class advisor. Rich was also a devoted swim team coach and swim meet official for both the high school and YMCA. Rich was a swim instructor for 40 plus years, and longtime member of Euclid Ave. United Methodist Church.
Survived by loving wife Dolly of 41 years, children Russ (Erin) Clark of Dayton, Ashley (Everett) Johnson of Newark, and Chad (Sarah) Clark of Oregonia; granddaughter Zoey; sister Janet (Tom) Elliott of New Concord; brother David (Jess) Clark of Hilliard; and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 23, 2017, from 11 AM to 5 PM at the VA Complex at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. If Richard has ever touched your life in any way please come and share memories with his family.
An assistantship fund has been set up in Rich’s name with the Muskingum Valley Boy Scout Council where memorial contributions will be accepted.
