History

Arthur A. Bryan has held several joint ownerships of funeral homes in Zanesville since 1940. In 1965, he set out on his own, building a new funeral home facility at the current location of 2318 Maple Ave. After over 50 years of funeral directing service, Arthur died on July 19, 1987.

Following his father's retirement in 1977, Thomas A. Bryan gained ownership of the business and continued the funeral home's operation. In 1997, he sold the business and property to Carriage Funeral Services. Upon his retirement in 2006, funeral director Dan Snider's name was added to the funeral home. Dan had been with the Bryan family since 1984. Dan Snider and Funeral Director Ken Reigle continued to be involved in the business, having dedicated over 30 years to the funeral home. In 2012 Dan and Ken both decided to take a part-time involvement with the funeral home. Jeff Hardwick, who has been involved in the funeral industry for over 34 years, was hired as the Managing Partner in 2012. In 2014, his name was added to the sign, and the business name changed to Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Although the name may have changed a few times over the years, the attention to detail that the firm has been known for remains the same.
