Tribute

Rev. Allan D. Teter, 83 years of age went to be with His Lord on January 30th, 2021, surrounded by His Loving Family in Zanesville, Ohio. Allan was born in Akron, Ohio to Dice & Freda Teter and had two brothers Jerry (Cindy) Teter, Don (Joyce) Teter and sister Dorothy (Eugene) McElroy.

He began serving the Lord as a Pastor in the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church at the age of 22. His appointments were: Lower Salem, East Cambridge and Beckett, Quaker City Charge, Pleasant Grove, Asbury Greater Parish as Director and Sr. Pastor, Willard Grace, Bethany and North Canton for 40 years of active ministry.

Allan, in 1975, made a 177-mile journey on horseback from Quaker City Ohio to Lakeside, Ohio for United Methodist Annual Conference as a celebration of the historic circuit rider James B. Finley. Trains and model railroading were also a much-loved passion as evident of his extensive display and equipment. Even in retirement, Allan continued his ministry and involvement in the church community. He was loved and respected by ALL.

“Al” was active as a volunteer at Quaker City Fire Department and was instrumental in the expansion of EMT Service for Guernsey County in the late 1960’s. He continued to serve as a first responder and as department the chaplain until his retirement.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dice & Freda Teter, wife Danella Simmons Teter, son John (Jack) Ford, grandsons Anthony Mitchell and Nathan Ford.

Survived by his loving wife Rev. K. Jean Teter, siblings Jerry (Cindy) Teter, Don (Joyce) Teter, Dorothy (Eugene) McElroy, children Ken (MiHwa) Teter, Lori (David) Sanders, Kevin (Libby) Teter, David (Mary) Ford, 7 grandchildren, and numerous nieces/nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
