Kenneth E. Roberts

Kenneth Edward Roberts, 96 ½, of Grafton, passed away Friday, May 25th at St. John Westshore Hospital after a brief illness. His incredible life began November 18, 1921 in Zanesville, Ohio.
There is no way to condense such an amazing person into a small space, but he loved and was loved very much by family and anyone who got to know him, even with the nickname of “Grumpy”. He loved the outdoors, taking care of his yard, fishing, camping, and telling his life stories at cookouts over a fire.
He served in the U.S Army during WWII, in Co. B 33rd Regt. 3rd Armored Div., as a tank commander and First Sergeant in the Battle of the Bulge and until the end of the war.
He was then employed at B.F. Goodrich, Avon Lake, OH as a foreman and retired in 1982 after 27 years.
Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Mary O. (nee Wheaton) of Grafton; daughter, Lana Moore of Elyria; two grandchildren, Joshua Moore (Halle) of Owasso, Oklahoma and Holly Robles (Alex) of Elyria, OH; great granddaughter, Zoey Moore, of Owasso, Oklahoma; brother, Earl Roberts of Zanesville, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Shirley and a son, Jeffrey Roberts; parents Alva and Sylvia Roberts (nee Rowland); brother, Ray Roberts and a son-in-law C. Gary Moore.
Friends are welcome to celebrate his life 4PM-7PM Weds. May 30th , 2018 at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Home 2900 N Ridge Rd, Elyria OH 44035 and also from 12PM-2PM on Thurs. May 31, 2018 at Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville OH, 43701 where funeral services will begin at 2PM. Burial with full military honors will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park 1475 Military Rd, Zanesville, OH .
