Dick Frank, 74, lifetime resident of Zanesville, passed to his eternal rest on January 28, 2019, following a sudden illness. He was born June 29, 1944 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Rawlston and Mary Warfield Frank.
Dick was well known in the Zanesville and Coshocton communities, especially for his “unique” personality and the support he gave to so many. Dick graduated from Bishop Rosecrans H.S in 1962, and worked 30 years at Cyclops Specialty Steel (now AK Steel) in Coshocton County as the Employee Assistance Coordinator for the plant. In this position he helped employees and their families with any troubling or personal issues they had. Many remember Dick being there for them 24/7 anytime they faced crisis. Since the mid-1970’s and throughout his life, he was especially committed to helping those with alcohol and substance abuse issues. Having personally dealt with alcoholism, Dick became a dedicated proponent of the 12-Step life in 1975, and spent the rest of his earthly time helping others. At the time of his death, Dick was House Manager of the Euclid Recovery House in Zanesville. He was also active in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and loved the “Littles” with whom he was involved. Unknown to most, Dick also had been going to Care Centers in Zanesville where he would inquire as to residents who never had visitors. Dick then began regular visits with those individuals. Anyone he knew who was in the hospital would also be regularly visited by Dick.
Throughout his life, Dick had many hobbies. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, antiquing and expressed his artistic talents through various forms of art. He always enjoyed riding motorcycles and took many trips on his Harleys, including a trip to the West Coast on old Route 66. He had watched Elvis perform in Las Vegas, visited the Clinton White House and to celebrate his 70th birthday, rode his Indian 1,000 miles in little over a day just as a personal celebration. Most of us can say, “We never knew another like Dick.”
Preceding Dick in death were his parents, Rawlston and Mary (Warfield) Frank and his sister, Barbara (Frank) Flood.
Dick is survived by his nieces and nephew: Lori Lake; Mindi Flood, Angela Flood and Kevin Flood. Dick is also survived by many, many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held for Dick on 4:00 PM Monday, February 4th at Coburn United Methodist Church, 3618 Maple Avenue, Zanesville with Pastor Justin Williams officiating. Interment of cremains will occur at Zanesville Memorial Park at a later date.
